Yamaha has officially revealed the much-anticipated 2025 YZF-R9, a model designed to bridge the gap between its renowned YZF-R7 and YZF-R1 in the supersport category. Powered by a refined 890cc CP3 engine and packed with cutting-edge technology, the YZF-R9 offers an exciting blend of track-ready performance and everyday usability. Priced at an accessible $12,499, this sportbike features a lightweight chassis, aerodynamic winglets, and advanced rider aids, making it a strong contender in the middleweight market.

The 2025 Yamaha YZF-R9 redefines the supersport class by combining exhilarating track performance with everyday street-riding practicality. Equipped with an 890cc inline three-cylinder engine, it delivers a potent 117 hp at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The YZF-R9 borrows its engine from the popular MT-09, but Yamaha has optimized the fuel map and gearing for this fully-faired sportbike.

The R9 is built around a gravity-cast aluminum Deltabox frame, touted as the lightest chassis in Yamaha's supersport range. The bike's aerodynamic bodywork, which includes MotoGP-inspired winglets, enhances downforce and stability at high speeds. The Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers with 320 mm front discs ensure exceptional stopping power, while fully adjustable KYB suspension provides precise handling.

In terms of electronics, the R9 is packed with rider aids like a six-axis IMU, lean-sensitive traction control, slide control, and launch control, all managed via a full-color 5-inch TFT display. Smartphone connectivity through Yamaha’s Y-Connect app adds a modern touch, allowing riders to access navigation and notifications. Available in three colors, the YZF-R9 is expected to hit dealerships in mid-2025.
