About Suzuki GSX-8R

Suzuki GSX-8R is expected to launch in India in September 2024 in the expected price range of ₹ 11,00,000 to ₹ 12,00,000. Currently available bikes which are similar to GSX-8R are Honda XL750 Transalp, Suzuki V-Strom 800DE & Zontes 350X.

The GSX-8R is Suzuki’s new middle-weight sportbike that is likely to enter Indian shores soon. It is a representation of the evolution of supersport offerings from aggressive, four-cylinder screamers to more accessible and environment-friendly, twin-cylinder machines.

The GSX-8R follows Suzuki’s new design language with a vertically-stacked twin LED headlamp flanked by slash-cut-style air intakes and a short windscreen. The fairing is an angular, geometric-looking unit, which blends with a muscular fuel tank and the bodywork culminates into an upswept, stubby tail section.

Clinging onto its steel frame is a 776cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with a 270-degree crank that produces 81.8bhp at 8,500rpm and 78Nm of peak torque at 6,800rpm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch. To enhance the riding experience, Suzuki has equipped the bike with ride-by-wire, low rpm assist, traction control, bi-directional quickshifter, ride modes, ABS, and easy start. The hardware package includes 17-inch cast aluminium wheels that are shod with Dunlop RoadSport 2 tyres and suspended by Showa SFF-BP forks and a linked rear shock. The stopping power comes from a dual 310mm front and a single 240mm rear disc.

In the international markets, the Suzuki GSX-8R competes against the likes of the Yamaha R7, Honda CBR 650R, Triumph Daytona 660, and Aprilia RS 660.
