Year-by-year repayment

Each instalment stays the same, but early payments are mostly interest. As the balance falls, more of every EMI goes towards the principal.

Principal and interest paid in each year of the loan, with the balance left at year end
Year Principal paid Interest paid Balance at year end Split
Year 1 ₹27,367 ₹7,868 ₹63,632
Year 2 ₹30,233 ₹5,002 ₹33,399
Year 3 ₹33,399 ₹1,837 ₹0

How the EMI is worked out

EMI = P × r × (1 + r)n ÷ ((1 + r)n − 1)

P, the loan amount
₹90,999
r, the monthly rate
10% ÷ 12 ÷ 100
n, the number of months
36

This is the standard reducing-balance method used for vehicle loans. Interest is charged each month on the balance still owed.

Reading the numbers

  • A longer tenure lowers the EMI but raises the total interest you pay.
  • A larger down payment means a smaller loan, so both the EMI and the interest fall.
  • The processing fee is usually paid once, up front. It is not part of the EMI, so check it when comparing lenders.
  • Prices on BikeCarHub are ex-showroom. Your loan may also cover registration and insurance, so confirm the on-road price with your dealer.
