How this is worked out

Cost of a charge = battery kWh ÷ (1 − charging loss) × price per kWh

Cost per km = cost of a charge ÷ range per charge

The petrol figure is the petrol price divided by the claimed mileage. These are energy costs only. They leave out insurance, servicing, tyres, a possible battery replacement, any purchase subsidy, and the higher price of public fast charging.
